Welding, Wire, Workshops and a busy summer ahead!
It’s been a fruitful and busy time in the workshop in the last six months. I’ve worked with so many lovely people who have come along to my studio to create their own willow sculpture from Geese, Owls, Hares, Heron and Deers! It’s proving a wonderful space to teach, collaborate and showcase local artists too!
The welder has been working overtime lately even in the heat, enabling me to create lots of armatures for my recent wire sculpture project. It’s a series of work which has been exciting and challenging to work on. These new forms celebrate natural fossilised forms found Torbay’s Geopark and will be exhibited at Cockington Court’s Outdooor Sculpture Exhibition this summer and autumn.
As a new arts space in the centre of Cullompton I’m really excited that other artists have been able to use my studio space to develop ideas and practice on larger work. Later in the year I’m holding an exhibition in my studio which will showcase some of my work alongside exciting new ceramics created by exceptional local artists. We have lots of creatives working away in their homes and workshops in Cullompton so I can’t wait to see their work in the studio and gallery space.
I’m always keen to meet local artists and crafters so if you’re looking for a place to exhibit your work, run a workshop, have a meeting or just need a big space to develop your ideas for a few days do let me know!
This renovation project was partly funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, as part of Mid Devon’s funding for business and Historic England’s Structural & Historic Reinstatement Grant.
